In 1981, WORT turned six years old. We celebrated down at Merlyn's on State Street, home to many early WORT-sponsored events and shows. And check out that cover charge - two bucks!

This WORT poster dates back to the old days (pre-1982) when WORT was still at 89.7 FM, housed on Winnebago Street. It was designed by Dan Slick of Survival Graphics back in the late 1970s. Thanks to Wisconsin Community Fund, who still have this poster hanging in their office.

In more recent years, WORT has held its birthday celebrations at Luther's Blues, the High Noon Saloon, the Cardinal Bar, even a Chinese Restaurant on the north side. For our 28th, we celebrated at the Harmony Bar.

For our 30th Birthday, Linda Barry did this terrific design for a WORT poster (which we also used on a t-shirt). We ordered about a hundred seragraph prints, and Linda decorated the first 35 or so with marker and glitter-glue. Each one is one of a kind! Incidentally, there are several of these left, and you could pledge for one...
